The Glass Menagerie was written by Tennessee Williams in 1944, and is believed to be heavily influenced by Williams own life. The play is a memory play, narrated by Tom Wingfield, the youngest member and economical supporter of the Wingfield family - therefore, the scenarios unfolding can be seen as a mere representation of reality; past events as they were lived and felt by one individual, but no objective truth.
